Rub in some teak oil to protect it, and cover it when you’re expecting rain or stormy weather. If you like the soft weathered gray the wood turns over time, leave it open to the elements. High quality resin and outdoor wicker furniture can stay outside all winter. Cast aluminum will be better off covered in extreme weather. Lower quality patio furniture, however, can turn brittle in the sun, fade, and even break if left uncovered all year.
